Midland's Mark Wystrach and his wife, Ty Haney, welcomed their daughter, Sundance "Sunny" Leon just before Thanksgiving 2019. About ten weeks later, the singer is opening up about the frightening details surrounding the baby's birth.
Wystrach recently revealed that his wife had to have an emergency C-section that led to fatal maternal hemorrhage. At one point, they lost the baby's heartbeat and Ty's vital signs were crashing.
"It was the scariest moment, the worst moment, and in a weird way, the best moment of your life, because you're kind of experiencing all of that," Wystrach shares with the band's label.
"It scared me. When you almost lose your wife and your kid and then you don’t, and you’re surrounded by your family and your friends and your community and it kinda rearranges your priorities and makes you throw up a bunch and kind of checks your ego back," he adds. "It’s hard to say that but because of that experience and we got really lucky, it’s weird how life ends up being a gift, because it teaches you the greatest lesson, that this life is a gift and you can’t take it for granted."
Days after Sunny's birth, Wystrach turned to social media to share a photo of the couple with their newborn along with an update on Ty and Sunny's health.
"Sundance 'Sunny' Leon came into this world with a bang! It's been a wild and unexpected week in the hospital, but we are all doing great and loving being together!" he captioned the photo.
"So grateful for our amazing doctors and nurses who have taken the best care of us and to our friends and family for all the love, prayers and support! The power of love and positivity is real," he continues. "Lil Baby Sunny is strong, beautiful and an absolute joy! We've gotten a clean bill of health and we're going home tomorrow. Yeehaw! The adventure has begun!!!"
Wystrach and his bandmates Cameron Duddy and Jess Carson will kick off a new leg of their "Electric Rodeo Tour" on February 8 in Los Angeles, California. The tour will conclude with a show at Nashville's iconic Ryman Auditorium on May 5.
This summer Midland will join Tim McGraw of his "Here on Earth Tour" launching on July 10, running through September 26. Rising star, Ingrid Andress will also be on the tour as an opening act. Tickets to the tour are available now.
